Brochure Distribution Tip No: 10
Every month we will be publishing tips on how to be more effective at brochure distribution.
Number 10 is again courtesy from Tim Betson one our Account Executives:
Using Trade-Gate to its full potential – part two.
Grade Specific Messages can be used at the launch of a brochure, especially if the launch is only going to select grades. I have used this several times e.g. only 500 agents in say grades A and B get packs on launch, therefore while this is being distributed a top level message restricts other grades from ordering. If the 'Distribution due' message is applied to just A and B all other grades are still able to successfully order packs. This also means that the client can take full advantage of Brochure Rack and Brochure of the Week during their launch.
Register for new brochures is something I tried rather crudely with a UK operator earlier in the year when stock on brochures ran out a month before the new edition was printed. I set up grade specific messages of 'New brochure due' on the versions as they ran out, which meant that when the new brochures came in I was able to export all requests made since stock was depleted and send any agents that they weren't going to include in the launch drop but obviously had been waiting some time for brochures! This produced another 139 agents to include in the launch drop. The client thanked me for ensuring these new sales outlets were supplied with the brochures they needed.
A long haul operator’s upmarket brochure ran out recently and the new one is not planned to go to print until September. Therefore I have improved on the above by setting up the brochure with the title of 'Register for the 2011 brochure now!' and the grade specific message 'Orders accepted: brochure due September 2010' providing the agent with more information and ensuring they receive a supply at launch. These are quick and easy to set up. Now all we have to do let agents request and hold this data for use with the September for launch.
We can also create an e-brochure of the current publication and link this from Trade-Gate as an interim measure.
If you have any tips to share please e-mail editor@traveldialogue.co.ukor post them here.
